MCW GLOBAL AWARDS 2022 ALUMNI VENTURES FUND GRANTS
New York, NY, USA, October 28, 2022 – MCW Global awarded nine Alumni Ventures Fund grants, totaling over $12,856 to Ahmad Bakdad from Syria, Mohammad Ghori from Afghanistan, Shrouk Hussein from Egypt, Ibrahim Kakinda from Uganda, Maria Lovaton from Peru, Samuel Meza from Peru, Putri Regita from Indonesia, Valeria Salas from Peru and Veronica Silas from Nigeria. All selected young leaders are working with grassroots organizations on projects that will make a difference in their own communities.
This year, the Alumni Ventures Fund has kicked off two types of grants, mid-size and small-size grants. Shrouk and Maria received the mid-size grant awards. The two recipients of the midsize grants will receive direct mentorship from an expert in the field of their project’s work. The mentor will guide the mentee to strategically scale their project from a resource mobilization perspective to project management and team building angle.
The remaining seven recipients have received the small-scale grant, for a three-five months-long project.
“It is truly amazing to see how these inspired and focused young people use their Alumni Ventures Fund awards to activate and enhance needed improvements in their communities,” says Charmaine Peart-HoSang, member of the Alumni Ventures Fund selection committee.
“It has been a privilege to be part of Alumni Ventures Fund and award these talented young people the funds and mentoring which will enable them to make impacting social changes in their communities,” added Sharon Kess, member of the Alumni Ventures Fund selection committee and founding Alumni Ventures Fund donor.
The Alumni Ventures Fund is fully supported by The Claire Friedlander Family Foundation and Hyman R. and Ruth Shapiro Foundation, Inc.
With the addition of the 2022 recipients, MCW Global will have awarded 30 grants to program alumni – totaling over $88,856 since establishing the Alumni Ventures Fund in 2009.
