MCW Global and MC Rwanda to Hold Young Leaders Conference 2024 in Rwanda

March 25-27, Nyamata, Rwanda MCW Global and MC-Rwanda will hold the Young Leaders Conference-Rwanda 2024 from March 25-27 at La Palisse Hotels, Nyamata, Rwanda. Bringing together 24 participants from Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, the Conference aims to contribute to bridging the gap between education and today’s dynamic and ever-shifting workforce.

The Conference will gather participants for a shared mission: to empower young people in East and Southern Africa with leadership skills to engage in discussions affecting their regions. It also aims to provide them with the necessary tools to identify and understand the challenges of School-to-Work transition in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) fields.

Recognizing the challenges coming with technological advancements, shifting industry landscapes, and evolving skill demands constantly reshaping the job market, this Conference navigates how all these factors can be complex for students, educators, community supporters, and young entrepreneurs.

Nevertheless, MCW Global and MC-Rwanda teams also acknowledge the immense potential and power of collaboration within each individual in tackling these challenges.

Hence, over the three days of the Conference, peers will engage in thought-provoking discussions, explore innovative solutions, and share best practices from diverse perspectives. They will also benefit from the opportunity to hear from leading experts in education, career guidance, workforce development, and community development practitioners.

According to MCW Global’s Program Associate, Young Leaders Program, Leon Gojani, “The Conference is an opportunity to dive deeper into the challenges of school-to-work transition and explore different ways we can tackle those challenges. By bringing together young people from the region, we aim to facilitate a regional network of community leaders and entrepreneurs who are willing to lead the way in improving the lives of their communities.”

Anne Lise Uwingabiye, MC-Rwanda’s Program Manager, highlights what the Conference brings to the region. “This Conference is an opportunity for young people and stakeholders in the youth development ecosystem of Rwanda and the region to explore the challenges hindering school-to-work transition, particularly in the arts and crafts, as well as ICT and multimedia sectors, and collaboratively explore actionable solutions to facilitate this transition.”

The Conference is focused on leveraging leadership to solve region-specific issues through regional networking and guided discourse about community issues. The conference is held bi-annually in different regions worldwide and is tailored for community development practitioners aged 25-35.

Over an intensive three-day program, the Conference will serve as a hub for young leaders within the same geographical region to assemble and carve solutions to their communities’ most pressing health, education, and economic security needs.

After completing the Conference, its alumni are eligible to participate in MCW Global’s alumni-exclusive programs: The Community Leaders in Africa Internship program and the Alumni Ventures Fund program.
