MCW Holds 9th Africa Programs Seminar in Rwanda

MCW GLOBAL HOLDS 9th AFRICA PROGRAMS SEMINAR IN RWANDA

New York, New York, March 1, 2023 – MCW Global held its ninth Africa Programs Seminar from March 20-24 in Kigali, Rwanda to support the organization and its Affiliates to operate high-impact, independent, and sustainable programs in Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia.

The Africa Programs Seminar helped teams sharpen their awareness of the shared purpose of global organization. With several team members participating in this seminar for the first time, the event gave them a clear overview of the organization’s overall direction and practices. In addition, the seminar focused on cultivating the skills team members need to effectively advance the shared global mission.

“This gathering has come at a critical point in time for the MCW Family. There is this science of being there; the power of in-person meetings. It has given us the opportunity to engage, learn, share, push boundaries in our thinking and connect deeply and purposely to achieve our shared vision. MC-Rwanda is proud to host such a seminar event. Welcome again to a land of a thousand hills and a million opportunities,” said Olive Safari, MC-Rwanda Country Manager.

Discussion topics included strategic planning and growth, media and communications, and donor cultivation and management. A core segment of the program was led in-kind by Richard Magid from Soundboard Consulting, which  focused on enhancing the teams’ self awareness through learning about  growth mindset,  emotional intelligence, and communication styles. Richard’s sessions and workshops will allow team members to lead more effectively within their organizations and communities. Country Managers from each of the Affiliates shared updates on their programs and strategic plans.

“After a few years of productive virtual gatherings, reconnecting with our diverse global team in person reaffirmed the impact of physically working together in the same room. This year’s seminar brought together team members who were meeting for the first time – and with the excellent communications and emotional intelligence workshops, everyone felt connected by the end,” said Khalid Elachi, MCW Global Executive Director.

Also in attendance were Anna Condoulis, MCW Global Board Member and Regina Leichner, Director of Strategy and Impact.

In addition to attending the seminar, team members participated in a social media challenge to apply their communication skills through online reporting and story-telling. On the final day of the seminar, MC-Rwanda hosted a day filled with activities highlighting Rwanda and its history as well as visiting MC-Rwanda’s Community Center and programs in Nyamata.
