MCW GLOBAL IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ITS AFFILIATE, MC-ZAMBIA, TO HOLD YOUNG LEADERS CONFERENCE FOCUSED ON LEADERSHIP IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT)
April 21, 2023, Lusaka – MCW Global, in partnership with its affiliate, MC-Zambia, will hold an in-person Young Leaders Conference from April 24th through the 26th at Chamba Valley Exotic Hotel, Lusaka, Zambia, focusing on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Integration in Primary and Secondary Education in the East and Southern Africa region. Bringing together 25 participants from Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, the Conference will redefine the concept of leadership and introduce skills for ICT professionals in the education sector.
The aim of the Conference is to improve ICT in primary and secondary education by expanding participants’ leadership knowledge while engaging them in meaningful discussions that advance ICT proficiency in their region. Additionally, the Conference will provide a platform for participants to identify and forge solutions for the prevailing challenges in ICT and education through a region-specific lens. Participants will leave the Conference connected to a wider network of support, consisting of professionals from various backgrounds including the ICT, private and education sectors. Discussions will also address the linkage between modern leadership and ICT, the challenges in the ICT sector, and the potential of networking and resource mobilization for ICT.
There has been growing recognition in recent years that technological advancements and education are a driving force for development. Economic inequalities are, in part, symptomatic of a system that is yet to harness the potential of ICT and education as catalysts for growth. In Africa, ICT is increasingly being recognized as an essential tool in bridging this inequality gap and promoting human progress. This is why the acknowledgment of ICT professionals as community leaders is necessary for the continent’s overall development. We believe that the significance of leadership in ICT today can never be overstated. To conceptualize a digitized future that is not led by well-equipped leaders is to diminish the vast potential of what could be. According to MCW Global’s Executive Director, Khalid Elachi, “In an ever-increasing digital world, equipping young professionals in the ICT and education sectors with leadership skills will create an improved learning environment for students across communities they serve.”
The 2023 Young Leaders Conference in Zambia is co-hosted by MCW Global and its affiliate MC-Zambia. MCW Global is a US-based non-profit organization and MC-Zambia is a locally registered non-profit organization. Both have a vision for communities around the world to achieve greater levels of education, improved health, and increased economic security.
