Ibrahim on his Activism and How MCW Global Support Empowers Girls in Nigeria’s Gombe State

Ibrahim Bello, 2023 MCW Global Mentee from Nigeria put his efforts and activism into improving his community in Gombe State.

Honoring March 8, International Women’s Day, after eight months of preparations, he launched the first pillar of his MCW Global community project by providing scholarships to young vulnerable girls in his hometown of Gombe.

The “Hope for HER” project serves as a pivotal step and marks the beginning of a profound transformation.

“This is a journey towards an inclusive society, where every young girl is empowered to pursue education, rise above adversity, and become the architect of their destiny.” Bello believes.

Speaking to MCW Global a few months after the launch, he notes:

“MCW Global and their unwavering support given to my project “Hope for HER” is transforming lives in Gombe State, Nigeria. With every step forward, with every life touched, we are together nourishing hope, resilience, and sustainable change.”

“In collaboration with MCW Global, we are transforming adversity into strength,” Bello adds.

He wholeheartedly appreciates MCW Global for believing in his vision and empowering him to make a positive impact in his community as a young man and activist from Gombe, Northeastern Nigeria.

“We are truly creating Local Change through Global Exchange.” he concludes.

We recall that in the summer of 2023, Bello was recognized with the prestigious Roberta Richin Memorial Vision Plan Award as the Mentee with the best Vision Plan at the 2023 MCW Global Youth Fellowship in New York City in the Shark Tank Elevator Pitch Competition. In this event, all 25 Mentees had 60 Seconds to present their project pitch to a panel of judges at the NYU School of Professional Studies.

The “Hope for HER” initiative is funded by MCW Global in partnership with the WAILA Initiative for Inclusive and Sustainable Development.
