For the second year, MCW Global launched the Abraham Magid Educational Scholarship Program (AME), awarded to MCW’s Young Leaders Fellowship Program alumni interested in furthering their education and passionate about their community.
This round of the AME supported three MCW Global alumni: Brendan Schultz (USA), Hannah Gomani (Malawi), and Valeria Cerpa (Peru)- bringing the total number of recipients to six. The recipients receive financial support to cover their bachelor’s and master’s tuition fees.
The scholarship, created by Richard Magid, a longtime friend and supporter of MCW’s work and mission, in memory of his late father, Abraham Magid, strengthens MCW Global’s commitment to education and youth development.
“Each year I am amazed at how MCW Global filters through thousands of applications to find 30-40 new incredible fellows for the annual Young Leaders Fellowship. Being able to extend the support provided by this program, through the AME scholarships [in honor of my Dad], helps fulfill its mission to build young leaders in all corners of the world.” says Magid, President, of Soundboard Consulting Group, LLC, General Partner, Soundboard Venture Fund, LP.
Magid further highlights that the impact of the scholarship is already evident, pointing to the efforts of Juan Pablo, a recipient of last year’s scholarship, who continues to advance his professional studies with the support of AME.

Another recipient from the second cohort, Hannah, shares what this opportunity means as she pursues her Master’s degree in Business Administration at Montclair State University.
Growing up in a developing economy, where Hannah witnessed many school dropouts among girls, she became determined to further her studies.
“And the MCW Global’s Abraham Magid scholarship has contributed to that dream.” Hannah says.
Further, Valeria, who is pursuing her studies in Computer Science, recognizes the scholarship’s role in helping her advance her academic goals.
Being passionate about programming, data-driven processes, and tech, she is excited to use these skills to promote data-driven projects to promote research, and the development of sustainable projects supported by new technologies.
“This scholarship is helping me to get closer to my long-term goal of pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science applied to sustainable projects. The knowledge I gain from this course/program will be essential for my future academic endeavors, providing both practical and theoretical foundations.”
About
The AME Scholarship was created by Richard Magid, a longtime friend and supporter of MCW’s work and mission. When Richard’s dad, Abraham Magid, passed away in February 2015, it was after a long journey of health issues that he fought hard to overcome. Richard’s dad was always a fighter and optimistic person who saw challenges as opportunities. He used to say that there are no problems, only solutions. Richard always took that to mean that instead of focusing on issues that arise, focus on what you will do to move forward. While the AME scholarship is meant to support the alumni’s academic pursuits financially, it aims to support young leaders who are actively involved in their communities through their projects or other community initiatives.
