NEW YORK, NY, July 8, 2011– The Board of Directors of MCW, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering youth to be positive agents of change in their own communities, announced today the appointment of Khalid Elachi as Director of Operations. Elachi will be responsible for overseeing MCW’s daily operations.

“Khalid has a wealth of experience and depth of knowledge of our programs, and a passion for the work of MCW,” said Eddie Bergman, MCW’s Co-Founder and new President of Board of Directors. “He has done exceptional work with MCW for many years now and we are confident that he will help us continue to grow our culture and our programs which impact hundreds of youth around the world every year.”

Elachi has been a member of the MCW team since 2003, when he participated in his first youth leadership retreat. Since then, he has coordinated seven retreats and helped establish MCW’s Alumni Ventures Fund. In addition to managing MCW’s finances and MCW’s social media strategy, Elachi also provided strategic and organizational support to MCW’s Community Center and Oral Healthcare programs.

“We have been fortunate to work with Khalid to develop programs over the years and congratulate him on his new position as Director of Operations”, said Anna Condoulis, a member of the MCW Board of Directors and Assistant Dean of Student Life and Alumni Affairs at the NYU School of Continuing & Professional Studies.

Elachi has traveled widely in Africa and the Middle East. Elachi majored in Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies at the College of Arts and Sciences at New York University. He graduated in 2008.

“I am excited to take on a role that will help MCW continue to grow and refine its current programs while expanding to new ones,” said Mr. Elachi.
